Product Features

Madagascar has long been known for producing fine cocoa beans. The unique soil and climate of Madagascar produce beans that are particularly fruity. Our award winning Madagascar bar is a fine example of this.

This chocolate is what first put Amano Chocolate on the map of chocolate makers. It is an untraditional cacao with strong fruity flavors that include hints of citrus and berry.

When we introduced our Madagascar we followed the inspiration of the great American Chef Alice Waters. We wanted to be as true to the ingredients as possible. Up to this time most chocolate makers made their chocolate fit expectations of what chocolate should be. With our Madagascar we changed that by embracing its uniqueness. Our Madagascar bar better than most shows the wide range of flavors possible in cocoa.

Since we introduced our Madagascar chocolate bar (winning the gold medal at the prestigious London Academy of Chocolate awards) many artisinal chocolate makers have copied us. we don't think anyone has yet been able to replicate us. Our Madagascar bar is absolutely delicious and one that you will long remember for its incredible flavor.

me and the mrs did a chocolate education party of sorts. to judge if the flavors described on (chocolate, beer , wine, cigars) aren't imaginatory on th end of the reviewer. We could solidly taste the nuances of flavor on these chocolates. they were great. must savor a little square in one's mouth.Along with Lindt 70% Cacao and the sadly departed Hershey's Int'l bars imported from Germany - a form of Puro chocolate from foreign countries - this is the best chocolate I've tasted. And at 9$ a tiny bar - IT BETTER BE.Tasted off, chalky and hard. I’ve bought this before in stores and the taste should be smooth and velvety. Had a few pieces of this bar and threw the rest out. Considering the price,it was really disappointing.Very pleased with purchase & quick delivery!Great Chocolate!I've tasted some of this extravagantly rich dark chocolate, 70% cocoa. And it is most delicious, no question about it.But call it artisan chocolate, or whatever you like, I would not have spent $12 for a 2.2 ounce chocolate bar, including the shipping --- as Amazon had originally priced it --- chocoholic though I am. At that cost, even I would consider it too "rich." I have tasted equally fine master work chocolate for less, and no --- for ultimate chocolate connoisseurs --- not of the drug store Hershey or Cadbury varieties.Maybe subsequent to April 13, 2008, Amazon lowered its price. I would not know. But as of April 17, 2010, the price was moot in any case --- since Amazon no longer offered the product. If it were revived at $8 something per bar, well, okay.I'm astonished that someone burnt this chocolate with a "3" rating despite saying it was delicious, apparently because they don't like the price. Wow. Go back to your Hershey bars! If you're going to rate a product, rate the product, not the fact that you don't like paying for quality. This is fine chocolate, from the best maker of chocolate in the United States. (For the best maker of chocolates, as opposed to chocolate, get Chocolatier Blue, although that's not available on Amazon.) And no, it isn't outrageously expensive, not for good artisan chocolate. Look at Amedei for comparison (the best chocolate in the world, and definitely more expensive). You don't compare Amano with what they're charging for the brown wax at the grocery store, for heaven's sake! That said, fine chocolate is sort of an acquired taste, and it you're low on money, I wouldn't blow it on any brand of fine chocolate. Otherwise, this is a good start. The taste of this chocolate bar certainly takes some getting used to. Besides it's overpriced.Over $10 for a 2oz chocolate bar is way over the board.
